LondonColm started his professional life working for a firm of patent attorneys in Dublin, before joining our Swansea office. He moved to a London firm for a number of years, before returning to UDL in 2004, where he became a partner. Colm advises clients on pharmaceutical and biotechnology-based subject matter. He has particular experience in drafting and worldwide prosecution of patent applications covering transgenic plants and animals, novel gene targets and genomic and research tool patents, obtaining plant variety rights and supplementary protection certificates. Colm also has extensive experience in representing clients before the EPO Opposition and Appeal Boards and has advised and acted in litigation before the British Patent Office. He is a member of the Biotechnology Committee of the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys and a director of PAMIA, the company that provides professional indemnity insurance for the patent attorney profession in the UK.
