For a new and rapidly growing business, there are a vast number of business-critical issues which must be handled on a day-to-day basis before the business owners and employees are able to go out and sell any products. The protection of IP is just one of these issues.
Before we could help SkinnyBrands, we needed to get to know the business owners and their aims and objectives for the brand (as we would with any client) — as well as deal with the immediate issues they faced. A key part of this process is education, so that they understand why we protect IP, what can be protected, how this is done and the associated costs.
We worked closely with SkinnyBrands to develop an IP protection strategy. We then helped the business undertake a benefit analysis. We’ve since performed trade mark searches and made applications in its key territories.
