Learning survival skills at the UDL summer conference

This year’s summer conference was a roaring success — here’s a selection of photos from the day’s team building event, ‘Castaway’, in which we learned some vital survival basics — like how to whittle dubious-looking mascots out of wood and how to destroy a banana with your knees.

The event started with ‘feed the monkey’ — a game that can only be described as close-quarters. It involves passing a banana between team members without using your hands…

…and ends when the ‘monkey’ (or Patent Attorney, in this case) is successfully *ahem* fed.

There was also some axe-throwing…

…and some axe chopping, as we all competed for survival against the unforgiving Warwick wilderness.

There were trials by fire…

…and trials by water (and wind machine)…

…and hand-crafted our very own Wilsons to keep us company.

And yet — despite all the fun, there could only be one winning team…

…and there was still time for the traditional company photo.

Our thanks to The Events Company (@theeventscom) for the day’s activities.

During the day, we also managed to raise a fantastic £425 for our charity of the year, Mind. Thanks to all who donated.

Until next year people!
