Akber joined UDL as a Trade Mark Assistant in May 2018. Akber became particularly interested in trade marks as he studied IP law at the University of Manchester, where he wrote two research papers on the social value of trade marks and the impact of recognising their additional functions, from which he graduated in December 2017. Akber spent three months in New York as a Legal Intern at a law firm in Midtown Manhattan, specialising in Media, Entertainment and IP. As an Assistant, Akber hopes to gain first-hand experience of all aspects of trade mark practice to become a more rounded attorney.
