Mark is dual-qualified in UK and European patent and trade mark law. In the patents field, he works with a number of companies in the chemical, biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries. He has also developed a substantial international trade mark portfolio and has a large practice before EUIPO (European Union Intellectual Property Office) and the UK registry, which involves both contentious and non-contentious work, notably in the fashion and beauty industries. Complementing his work in trade marks and patents is a comprehensive knowledge and practice in the field of industrial design protection.

After qualification, Mark worked in industry for five years at a major consumer products multinational. He spent a year in the USA, gaining direct experience dealing with the US Patent Office. Mark joined UDL in 1990 and has been a Board member since 1994.
