Nick has specialist expertise in patents relating to semiconductor technology, in particular in mixed signal devices, wafer processing and packaging. Nick is also active in the fields of medical devices, automotive products and computer implemented inventions.
Nick is experienced in drafting cases for patent protection in Europe and around the world. He is also experienced in patent prosecution at the European Patent Office and the UK Intellectual Property Office and frequently advises on infringement and validity matters.
Prior to UDL, Nick was in-house counsel for a large semiconductor company, advising on patent creation and portfolio management. He earned his Physics PhD studying the magnetic properties of rare earth metals at the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility. Nick entered the profession in 2001 and became a partner at UDL in 2019.
